Memory Lane

A friend of mine who I went to Secondary School with sent me this photo of a painting we did in class back in 1999 when we where 18. I think it's supercool, I can't remember but I think we had an assignment to illustrate an historical moment or something. Anyway this is what we did. The painting is quite large too, probably around 1 m²

I just love Charmaine Olivia's art. She's a super-talented artist living in San Francisco, CA.

The colours are amazing and the details, just look at the portrait of the tattooed woman, that's an oli-painting people! Thanks Charmaine for some super inspiration. First thing in the morning I'll pick up my pens and a fresh set of papers and wipe off the dust from my watercolours. Ooooh so inspired!

Sleeping At Last

Thanks to the brilliant Jeremy Larson I came across Illinoise based band Sleeping At Last (and got a free download of their new album!). Since then I've had my iPod plugged in and been moving (with some odd looking dancemooves) around the flat in a blissful mood. The albumcover is perfect and beautifully painted by Geoff Benzing.

Here's an update of my painting this weekend. Already regret colouring it, well atleast the colours I've chosen. Oh well, it's been fun and I'm all excited for the next project.

Sherri DuPree

Found the amazing photographer/artist/musician Sherri DuPree through a photo on the lovely Elsie Flannigan's blog this morning. Sherri has the most stunning photos on her flickr site. While looking through her photos I found that she's an even greater artist (if I may say) and has a set of inks on her other flickr site. I'm so inspired I'll buy some new papers tomorrow after work and pick up my drawing and post some here, that's a promise. Yes, you heard me right, I'm back at work tomorrow, feelin way better today and honestly, this flat is starting to stare at me and leaving me notes of eviction. Thanks sweet Sherri for the inspiration!
